VHPA Black Widows & Spiders

Bob and Sharon Janes hosted a mini reunion at the Tampa VHPA reunion. The Joe Low plaques, the 188th – C/101 Banner and the Joe Kline print with all the signatures were on display. They were very well received.

    In attendance were: Bill and Sarah Bramlett, Tom Tuttle, Richard C. Williams, Ed Strazzini, Charlie Herberle, John Madden, Robert Mudge, Max Beebe, myself and Sharon.

    We sat down and told stories, took some pictures, and had a wonderful time. Thanks to all who came.

    After the reunion, Bob and Sharon traveled to Savannah, Georgia, to Hunter AAF where the Spiders of A-4-3 are stationed. The Spiders are a direct descendent of the 188th AHC Black widows gun platoon, the Spiders.

    I met the BN Commander LTC Joe McCarthy who commanded the Black Widows (BW6) in 2010 at Ft. Campbell and the current Company Commander CPT, Raoul Valencia. I presented the Joe Low plaques, the banner and the Joe Kline picture with all our signatures to BN Commander and CO Commander. They will be displayed in the Spider Company Headquarters Legacy Room at Hunter AAF. During the presentation LTC Joe McCarthy signed the picture at the Black widow Logo and CPT Raoul Valencia signed at the Spider Logo. They are very happy to receive these and the CD,s that Richard Green supplied.
